About
Moonrows (stylized as MOONR✦WS) is the online identity of Toronto-based writer Amanda Monasar, who graduated magna cum laude from York University in 2023 with a degree in Professional Writing. She was the winner of the 2020 President’s Prizes in Creative Writing for her original stage play “The Walk” and the Administrative Assistant of the Professional Writing Students’ Association.
For two years, she served as the publications coordinator of Existere - Journal of Arts and Literature, where she designed the magazine's layout and fielded its submissions. She has since worked as an English Editor for MDPI Canada and as the Programme Book Coordinator at Toronto International Film Festival, with three successful programme books (and counting) under her belt.
Amanda’s hobbyist work includes digital art, document design, and visual novels, which she designs and codes herself. She enjoys aesthetically pleasing Gothic designs, sharp line art, and em dashes. InDesign is both her best friend and lifelong enemy.
Amanda is currently enrolled in the joint Communication & Culture program at York University and Toronto Metropolitan University, where her research interests include digital rhetoric, AI, and other emerging technologies.
