It should come as no surprise that my favourite game of all-time is the fast-paced roguelite from indie studio Supergiant Games, which literally everyone has heard of at this point.
It's got it all: a fun and exciting storyline, an incredible soundtrack, voice acting, romance, and of course, gameplay that makes you not hate dying! But maybe that's simplifying it a bit, so let's take a look at what personally resonated with me the most in Hades.
Genre
Rogue-lites aren't for everyone. Before Hades, it also wasn't for me because there's nothing I hate more than losing and having to restart everything. I tried and hated Dark Souls and never want to speak of it again.
Dungeon-crawlers are daunting for any casual gamer because of its set-up, but Hades's mechanics make it a little less stressful. When I was just starting out, I loathed the constant deaths, mostly against boss encounters, which seemed impossible. Eventually, I discovered God Mode, which gave me damage resistance up to 80% so I could focus on the story.
My Mirror stats are sky high now and I've developed a technique for playing, so I don't really need it anymore, but I still find this a really useful aspect of the game since it lets less seasoned gamers actually have fun in a roguelite.
Thank you Supergiant Games for not gatekeeping the genre.
Gameplay
I need to preface this by saying I play video games like I'm going to die tomorrow. I rush head-long into danger, I spam attacks, and I do not use defensive moves. I've never once played a Pokémon game and let my team keep status-based moves—and I've been playing Pokémon since 2008. This feels like an admission of my impulsive play style and I should be at least somewhat apologetic, but I refuse.

In the same way, I relish games where I can button-mash and things happen. Hack-and-slash games are so much fun, and they relieve my stress. My favourite weapon in Hades are the Twin Fists. You get to bring Zagreus to the centre of the action and just whack, whack, whack until enemies disintegrate!
Personally, the best form is the Aspect of Gilgamesh because it looks like paws and it's fun. No, I don't want any feedback.
Eye Candy
Finally, what makes Hades an absolutely perfect game?
